Sometimes, in the GTK version of GUI PuTTY or pterm, if the server sent a control sequence to resize the window, the program would try to process it twice, get confused, and fail an assertion.

This could happen in unusual configurations of the window which are not either 'maximised' or 'normal', such as it being docked to the right-hand half of the display in KDE.
